New Asia Currents was launched officially in April 2025 with the following in mind:
Editorial purposes
(1) Publicise the projects of working groups under the auspices of the Commonwealth of World Chinatowns (CWC, read here) with the view, generally, of making them better known to a wider audience, and, specifically, of drawing the interest of fund-raisers and potential funding parties for the projects.
(2) Seek ways to multiply any story generated by, for example, making them available and readily-usable to media and other influencers.
(3) Give the CWC a profile and identity that is more tangible in the public eye, especially in view of the coming “Conference on a New Asia” in 2025.
Audience
The main audiences of NAC are:
(1) People who are interested in information at the “Frontiers of Art, Science & Human Civilisations”
(2) Potential funding individuals and entities and fund-raisers, as identified by the CWC project leaders.
(3) Authorities that will approve and govern the practices of the projects, to inform, reduce misconceptions and allay fears.
(4) Media practitioners and other influencers, including bloggers and others using social media, so they can act as multipliers of any story generated.
Media
Apart from this website, NAC has a “sister” Substack site called Postscript NAC which is used to carry short stories, breaking news and announcements of interest to its readership (check it out here). It aims to produce quarterly PDF “digests” that would link readers to stories produced each quarter.
